Sydney Southwest Private
Southwest Sydney Private Hospital is a principal private medical facility, servicing the greater western Sydney community.
The brief was to upgrade 45 bathrooms to reflect the high quality of safety, sanitary and modern aesthetics patients had come to expect from Sydney Southwest Private. Added to this was the need to improve functionality and reduce ongoing maintenance.
As essential high use spaces, the refurbishment of hospital bathrooms requires specific planning with a focus on safety and hygiene. Specialised project management is critical to execute on-site works with minimal disruption to the everyday operations of the hospital.
Working on a ‘live’ site is Coverite’s specialty. Prioritising the safety of staff, patients and visitors, considering the delicate nature of working in a hospital.
The project began with a new design for each bathroom. Coverite’s design team consulted with the client on spatial planning and made selections of new vinyl floor covering, tapware and lighting. Uplifting the overall aesthetic to provide an environment that was beautifully designed and easy to maintain.
Demolition and construction works were outlined precisely, and trade teams managed effectively. This allowed the project to follow a set timeline and limit interruption to staff and patients.
With careful consideration to the working environment of the hospital, a schedule of priority was established, keeping in mind access and noise while the refurbishment took place.
Coverite efficiently managed and delivered the project in the allocated 45-week timeframe. Completing and handing over 3 bathrooms approximately every 3 weeks. Creating a smooth transition to beautifully designed bathroom facilities.
The entire project was a success, from design to completion. Every detail of the new bathrooms and the administration of works exceeded the client’s expectations.
